A big shout out to the McDonald’s on Commercial St. in Neenah, WI!  Here’s why:

The other night I went through the drive-thru for an ice cream run.  This is an act of fetching something tastey when the kids have just gone to bed.  A regular ritual for our family.  Typically turns are taken between hubby & myself. 

So, I go through the drive thru, order my ice cream and get around to the window to pay when the girl askes, “Have you tried one of our new McCafes yet?”

Me, “Um, well, I had a cappucino thing.”

Her, “Would you like to try one for free?”

Me, “Sure”

And it wasn’t a little dinky trial freebie size either!  I got a full sized hazelenut latte HOT!  Boy did this just make-my-day.  Not only was it FREE and really cool that this happened, but the mere fact I was thinking of getting a coffe with my ice cream on the way over then telling myself that was silly to begin with, the ice cream was silly to begin with!! 

Isn’t it just amazing how things work out like that?  Oh, and THANK YOU McDonald’s for bringing the spirit back to the people.  I have to say when we lived down by Madison the McDonalds there were just nasty.  The employees don’t care about their jobs OR their customers, and Mt Horeb was worse yet!  You could order a cheeseburger and I guarantee the order would be wrong.  WRONG, always wrong!  It’s just nice to have a good experience when you go somewhere. 

So far in Neenah we’ve only had the best of experiences at McDonalds.  So keep up the good work folks! 

Would you like that super sized?

If I don’t get this blog in about Labor Day it’s going to be way to late and a dollar short, not to mention not the freshest in my mind considering I only remember about a half day’s worth of information at any given time anways!  Early on-set alzheimers or adult ADHD?  Maybe a little of both.

The actual Labor Day day was going to be a little family time of not doing a whole lot, maybe going to Heritage Hill in Green Bay because I just LOVE going back in time and pretending to live in those “olden days”, or taking the girls to the beach near town (a.k.a FREE fun for the day) since the day before we spent at the Shawano Fair going on rides & eating cream puffs, looking at the barn animals, etc.  Instead we decided to rent a pontoon and go out on the Shawano Lake!  The very lake I grew up on with my best friend Leah Otte who lived right on the water.  (Yes, we did drive by her house so I could reminice those days.)  Oh, and her aunt’s house, and her grandparents.  Good times and OH how nice it would be to live on the water! 

It was just the four of us and we had an awesome time [see pictures].  The water is so relaxing. I could have literally fallen asleep on the boat rocking back and forth, however with a 3 yr old and a 1.5 yr old no fear about jumping seat to seat and the chance of going OVER BOARD there wasn’t a chance in hell for sleeping. 

To top it off the boat was brand new!  So nice.  We went to a couple of the sand bars and my 3 yr old was freaked out by the sand & seaweed in her feet.  My little one stood there, but (like always) would much rather mommy hold her. 

Funny segway as we’re standing in the sandbar I look at our boat and notice it seems further than…before?  I say, “Honey, is that our boat drifting away?”  Hubby, “oh crap!”  Old lady in boat next to ours, “I’m sorry, I never even noticed it.”  As the boat is drifting farther and farther into the lake!!  Hubby had to swim out to retrieve it and bring it back it.  Of course it’d be OUR family who lost their boat.  What a bunch of doofuses.  I guess two 25 lb. anchors aren’t enough for a 20 ft boat.  Hmm…. 

After we got done boating (about 3 hours) we got in the car and 3 yr old says she has to go potty.  We say to hold it because we’ll go to grandma’s house to go!  (Not mentioning that grandma wouldn’t come on the boat b/c she had “too much housework to do”.)  Whaaaaaaaa!!!  So we went to my mom’s house and ended up having dinner there.  Hey, why not.  That eliminates us from driving home and having to cook or get something for dinner ourselves. 

We got home about 7:30 p.m. and got the girls ready for their new daycare (a whole ‘nother story) the next day.  Tuesday, back to work, YUCK!  Needless, the girls slept like rocks on Tuesday morning.  They slept through two showers, a hair dryer, letting the dog out… I had to wake them up to get them ready.  That NEVER happens.  Why couldn’t it have been a day we got to sleep in so I could either a.) sleep in too, or b.) enjoy being in the house during the morning while it’s quiet for a while??  We parents slept like rocks as well and even took last night as a catcher-upper to everything again. 

Do you suppose I could stay awake past 8:30 tonight?? 

Back up to Sunday now.  We also attended the Shawano Fair.  An annual hoopla for that town.  It’s the biggest thing right during/before school starts around Labor Day.  If you go there you’ll see more ribs than teeth, but none-the-less they have creme puffs and cotton candy.  Might I add that the fair has gotten chintzy over the years.  Things like that are always more fun when you’re younger anyways. 

Our 3 yr old has no fear (like I said before).  She and grandpa went up on the ferris wheel!  Well, because neither her father nor “I” was going to go.  My totally insecure fear of heights/ falling.  She was up at the top pointing to the sky!!  I accompanied a teacup ride so Hill Bean could join in the fun.  Not the BEST thing to do right after eating a burger, but hey, it wasn’t too bad.  Spin spin! 

We topped the night with a “wanted” trip to Luigi’s for pizza, but they were so packed that we ended up at Perkins where the girls ate a very good dinner (might I add!) which never happens.  Then again it was going on 8:00 waaaaayyy past their beddy time and they hadn’t really eaten while at the fair.  Bless their little hearts & souls.  Such troopers!

..and because wordpress SUCKED at posting my video I have to add another blog to do it. Grrr…. Let this be my first complaint.

A trip to Wal-mart yesterday proved to be yet another $100 round.  It doesn’t matter if you’re going for hairspray and tissue, you come out with mouth wash, toilet brushes, dog food, soda, snacks, cute outfits for the kids, make-up, shampoo, body wash…etc etc.  Crap you probably still needed (or will soon) but had no intentions of in the first place.  However, Wal-mart is so attractive and some things are just irresistable. 

I know, *cringe* at the thought of Wal-mart to begin with.  Such a sleezy cheap ass store, with less-than-to be desired people.  Especially up north you see more ribs than teeth.  Geesh!  But..I have to show off my polka dot princesses. 

Some cool things Wal-mart has (and I recommend for people with little kids….eh hemmmm LFM):

#1  Zoo Pals silverware.  And, it’s sturdy enough to rewash.  Worth the $2.21.  They’re SO cute!

#2  These super awesome polka dot pajammies for the girls.  Matching none-the-less.  Aren’t they just the most?

Reliving the Past

So last night we dug up some old (as in a year ago) family videos.  We got the bug to watch my youngest’s birth tape and relive the whole moment again.  My 3-yr old was so excited, “There’s mommy!….Oh, there’s daddy!  Oh, hee hee…there’s meeeeeee!!!”  And she pointed out my littlest in mommy’s tummy of course. 

Getting prepared for them about to see what’s coming up I start talking to “3 yr old” about how babies really come out.  (yeah, we’re an open family!) and she got that scrunched up quizzicle look on her face, then a look of Wha?!  So on-to movie watching. 

OMG am I huge!  OMG look at the baby moving in my tummy.  OMG I’m lopsided, lol. 

Long story short and hours of footage (we fast forward) we have the girls sit and watch my youngest “being born”.  The little one is in my lap so sweet, so quiet watching, and the 3 yr old is somewhere between her room and the living room putting on wrist bands and pretending to Karate Chop the air.  (She saw a whole MIN of the Karate Kid one day.  Yeah, they’re SPONGES people!)  Ok, back to the video.  Point comes, here comes baby!  OMG, wow…no way… Really?  Aweee… look at the baby.  Aweeeee that little cry.   Aweeee…those little grunts.  I love it! 

Now the fun part.  The little one is staning in the living room and 3 yr old bends down all mother-like and puts her hands on her and says with the most innocent/ esctatic/ excited voice, “Hilly, you came out of momma’s butt!”  LMFAO  Great!  She got it *smile*

Back to the video.  Oh, if she could just be that little 2 mo. old for just one day.  As I’m saying to hubby (knowing full well there’s not a chance in HELL we can even HAVE another baby) that I want another baby, I go into the kitchen to see our littlest one dumping out her juice box all over the place and then procede to say, “Um, never mind.  Scratch that.  I’m fine!”

Forever I’ll now have to live vicariously thru those that are starting fresh.  Ho hum.

I have to laugh (out loud). I saw the craziest commercial this morning for Dixie paper plates.  There was a mom confessing that using paper plates gives her more time with her kids and family.  “No dish washing gives me more time for them”.  Wha?! 

First of all, I know some people still wash their dishes (minus dishwasher).  Completely normal, totally fine.  We all know that in today’s day and age most (I say most) people have a dishwasher. 

Secondly, the whole theme of going green and being earth friendly and Dixie creates a marketing add that by using their …wait, not paper, but PLASTIC plates and cups will allow families less hassle, create more garbage and waste, and allow them more time with their kids. 

It’s got to be one of the most craziest things I’ve seen in a while.  You just have to see it for yourself.
